Resolved Question: Why did the United States stop using an army helicopter to transport the president?

Army One used to be one of the main transport for the presidents but then they just gave every the responsibility to the Marine Core. Why did they just cease using it? Did they think the Marine core didn't have enough responsibilities or the army had to many. The only other way a president would use army one would be if they rode in a cargo plane which would be weird.

Resolved Question: How common is it for a pilot on active duty in the Air Force to achieve the rank of Lt. Colonel?

Not being a military person (or really knowing any military people), I have no idea what the Air Force's policies are when it comes to the various ranks that its pilots can be promoted to, and what their allowed duties are once they reach a certain rank. And, unfortunately, the internet seems to be little help because I'll be snookered if I can find a flipping thing on Air Force rank as it concerns pilots beyond "you have to be a 2nd Lieutenant to enroll in the academy". It's nice to know that's where you start out because it tells me where the floor is at for Air Force pilots, but it doesn't tell me anything about the ceiling. Are Air Force pilots required to be a certain rank over 2nd Lieutenant, for instance, before they're allowed to train as fighter pilots? Must their instructors be of a certain rank? If a pilot who has reached a point where he trains other pilots requests a reassignment where he can do something such as fly cargo and transport, is he allowed to do so (provided he has the training necessary to fly the larger planes)? Would he need to be demoted for the assignment since he's now just a pilot again, and not an instructor? This is one of those questions where I would like to pick a best answer for more than one person since every the answers were helpful and informative, but I'm not allowed to do so. Rather than promote one answer over the others in a subject I have already confessed ignorance in, I am going to put the issue up to a vote. Thank you every for your answers. Regardless of which gets chosen, they were every helpful.

Resolved Question: Can you answer any of these questions?

If you bite your nail and accidently swallow it, would that make you a cannibal? Why does the sun lighten our hair, but darken our skin? Why doesn't glue stick to the inside of the bottle? Why is it that doctors call what they do practice? Why isn't there a special name for the tops of your feet? Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food? If the 7-11 is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, why does it have locks on the door? If a firefighter fights flame and a crime fighter fights crime, what does a freedom fighter battle? If they squeeze olives to receive olive oil, how do they receive baby oil? If a cow laughs, does milk arrive out of her nose? Why is it that when you transport something by car it is called shipment, but when you transport something by boat it's called cargo? If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress? Most importantly, how many times have you sneezed today? And is it ttrue that if you sneeze with your eyes open (which i know is impossible), would your eyes pop out of your head? I know I ask lots of questions. =)

Resolved Question: Would you want to live in a massive city without roads?

Of course you will be able to add your possess personal touch of style to your new apartment home. Finances aside... Would a city like this be a good idea? Would you want to live here?

Resolved Question: Do military planes have bathrooms?

I was wondering about C-17s, C-130s, and other military cargo and troop transport planes. Do they have bathrooms? Or do soldiers and anyone else stuck onboard just have to hold it for too many hours? I use the restroom at least once on short commercial flights. I cannot imagine having to fly somewhere like the Middle East or Asia, and having nowhere to take care of business! And, as a female, nor can I imagine just using a pail in front of anyone else, be they soldier or civilian?

Voting Question: Will La Raza offer free legal help claiming the police only stopped the SUV because there was Mexicans in it ?

HARRISONBURG -- A man caught in Shenandoah County smuggling 10 illegal aliens in a tiny SUV will serve three years in prison. Oliver Leonel Sanchez Ortiz, 23, of Mexico, was sentenced on Feb. 24 in U.S. District Court to 36 months in prison for transporting illegal aliens. U.S. District Judge Samuel G. Wilson placed him on supervised release for three years, according to online court records. Sanchez Ortiz was sitting in the passenger seat of the Buick Rendezvous when a state trooper pulled it over on Interstate 81 south of Edinburg on Oct. 7, according to an affidavit filed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan Souders said the trooper described the passengers as being "stuffed in there like a can of sardines." "There were 11 of them in a Buick Rendezvous, and seat belts for five," Souders said. "There were at least three in the cargo area of the Rendezvous." The ICE affidavit says that the 10 men were smuggled across the border at Arizona by a "coyote." "Upon arrival in Arizona, another Coyote escorted the 10 to a home in Mesa, Arizona (the 'Drop home')," the statement says. "At the Drop home, the 10 were not free to leave until they paid the first half of the smuggling fee, which ranged from $1,000 to $1,400; they were locked inside the home while the Coyotes awaited payment." Sanchez Ortiz then picked them up and headed toward New York, where another payment was to be made, according to the affidavit. big sums of money weren't found on the smuggled men, Souders said, and the initial payments were mostly made by relatives. He said the government doesn't have evidence directly connecting Sanchez Ortiz to a larger criminal organization. An unpleasant odor was coming from the vehicle, according to Souders. "The window was rolled down -- I don't even think it was rolled every the way down -- there was a odor of body odor that was sort of permeating from the car that [the trooper] could odor from a foot or two away from the window," he said. "They had traveled over 2,200 miles, every in that vehicle. The trooper found what he believed to be plastic bottles filled with urine in the vehicle." Souders said Wilson actually went over the voluntary sentencing guidelines when sentencing Sanchez Ortiz. The risk of death or serious bodily injury justified the greater punishment, he said. According to online court records, 12 additional counts against Sanchez Ortiz were dropped as part of a plea agreement. "The defendant had previously been removed from the country four times, but none was an official administrative removal or deportation," Souders said. "They were every from closer to the border." Three of the men from the vehicle received sentences ranging from time served to 10 months in jail for illegal re-entry, according to court records. "Human smuggling networks extend well beyond our borders into the interior of our country," John P. Torres, ICE special agent in charge in Washington, says in a news release from U.S. Attorney Timothy J. Heaphy's office. "These smuggling organizations not only put those they are smuggling at risk, but also put the American public at risk." http://www.nvdaily.com/news/2010/03/man-caught-smuggling-illegal-aliens-gets-three-years.php Will La Raza offer free legal help claiming the police only stopped the SUV because there was Mexicans in it ?

I'm trying to give plenty of info here. What I need in a car: How many people do you need to transport? My boyfriend and I, I also want backseats. What type of driving do you do most often? I like to steer quick; I am gas conscientious and coast versus breaking. How long is your commute? Twenty minutes, not sure of future job. Is it important that your next vehicle receive good gas mileage? Very important. Do you want a manual or automatic transmission? Automatic. Do you really need four-wheel steer? Or every-wheel steer? Nope! Roads are my pal and I live in California. What safety features do you want? Enough of them, I prefer living. Do you require a lot of cargo capacity? No, a backseat is adequate; trunks are neat though. Will you be doing any towing? Never. Do you have a bad back and need flexible seating positions? No. Will the car easily fit in your garage or parking space? It better, I'm used to driving bigger cars though. How much do you have to spend? I don't want to spend much more than $20,000. Buying a certified pre-owned or leasing are certainly options. I was thinking of getting a Honda Insight or a Civic. I don't want to buy another car for a very long while. Thank you for any help.

Hello:) Currently in our U.S. History class, we are going over the economy and whatnot in the 1800s. Today, we were assigned a project, and I need help. Here is what our assignment is: "You possess a tiny transport company headqueartered in Baltimore. You boat goods by road, rail, and water. It is 1830 and the country is growing and business is good. You want to expand your company to newly settled areas. You would like to transport raw materials from areas in the South and West to industrial cities in the East and take manufactured products to areas where there is a demand. You are a catious businessman and do not want to over expand. You have decided to select three regions to swervice, to use several means of transportation, and to make sure your cargo carriers are loaded on both legs of the round trip. YOu must make good decisions in order to make a profit. What routes will ou pick, what products will you carry, and what types of transportation will you use? 1. In what areas will you place advertisements in the newspapers? 2. After the presentation, tell the class how transporting goods has changed in the 20th century." Well, my group has chosed our routes, but we don't know what products to boat? What is something that would be in high demand in the newly purchased West? And where would we want to advertise in the U.S.? every help is appreciated! Thank you!!:D When they talk about the areas to advertise, they mean location (like, on a map), not where in a newspaper:)

Resolved Question: I need to transport 100 tonnes of aggregate by land sea then land again. Whats the best way to transport it?

the goods will be shipped by land to the docks, then craned onto a cargo boat, then craned of again the other side onto different vehicles. 1 Tonne bags seem the most manageable option but the amount of time ti would take to crane them would be ridiculous! Leaving it on the vehicle is not an option as the boat will not return for 8 weeks and we can't afford the hire of the vehicle.

Resolved Question: How do they transport large animals overseas?

Such as horses. Like, say you have a horse in Europe, and you're moving to Ohio. Does the animal have to go on a boat, or can you put it on a plane? And how does that work if you put it on a plane? It can't go in the cargo area, can it? Do they have special planes just for transportation of horses and such? And what about zoo animals? Do they go by boat, or do they receive put on planes? Just something I was curious about earlier. Add: Why would Yahoo! try putting this below pets-->cats? Pets I understand, but where did I even mention cats until just now? big animals as in horses, cows (do people even bother with them?), elephants, lions, camels, etc.

Resolved Question: Who else wants to hear an interesting fact?

Manure... An interesting fact??? Manure: In the 16th and 17th centuries, everything had to be transported by boat and it was also before commercial fertiliser's invention, so big shipments of manure were common. It was shipped dry, because in dry form it weighed a lot less than when wet, but once water (at sea) hit it, it not only became heavier, but the process of fermentation began again, of which a by product is methane gas. As the stuff was stored below decks in bundles you can look what could (and did) happen. Me thane began to build up below decks and the first time someone came below at night with a lantern, BOOOOM! Several ships were destroyed in this manner before it was determined just what was happening. After that, the bundles of manure were always stamped with the term ' boat High In Transit ' on them, which meant for the sailors to stow it high enough off the lower decks so that any water that came into the hold would not touch this volatile cargo and start the production of methane. Thus evolved the term ' S.H.I.T ', (boat High In Transit) which has arrive down through the centuries and is in use to this very day. You probably did not know the true history of this word. Neither did I.. I had always thought it was a golf term. . Why did Yahoo want to put it in this catagory? Society & Culture > Cultures & Groups > Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered

Resolved Question: Need the name of a short story?

So what I remember of the story is that some guy is transporting something on some boat (it's a sci-fi) and he discovers that a girl has stowed away on the boat. And because of how they fueled the boat (they only gave it enough so that it could carry the cargo and the pilot) if he doesn't eject her the boat and the guy won't make it to the planet to land. So in a unhappy moment the pilot tries to alter the course a little bit so that they can receive in range of where the little girls parents are, but they can't connect, and unfortunately he's forced to eject the girl into space. Very emotional short story. Anyone got the title?

Resolved Question: Why can't some large military transport air-crafts be redesigned as rapid deployment surgical facilities?

In the case of earthquake ravaged Haiti, one of the first objectives was to receive the airports functional again. If a big capacity cargo transport could be outfitted as a rapid response triage facility then, once the airfields were accessible, medical supplies, medical personnel and a place to use them could be at the sight of a disaster within a day. To avoid territorial disputes, I would think the medical transports would be attached to the United Nations.

Resolved Question: My new house number is 119?

How can I make myself entertained with numbers about this new home number? Is there a pattern in the sqaures or somethink? ;) It also means so many different things: In mathematics 119 is a Perrin number, preceded in the sequence by 51, 68, 90 (it is the sum of the first two mentioned). 119 is the sum of five consecutive primes (17 + 19 + 23 + 29 + 31). It is a highly cototient number. In mathematics, the Perrin numbers are defined by the recurrence relation P(0) = 3, P(1) = 0, P(2) = 2, and P(n) = P(n - 2) + P(n - 3) for n > 2. The series begins 3, 0, 2, 3, 2, 5, 5, 7, 10, 12, 17, 22, 29, 39 ... It is one of the largest stars known, having a diameter 510 times that of the Sun. Ruby Star is a M-type red supergiant with a mean apparent magnitude of +4.32. It is approximately 1920 light years from Earth. The star is classified as a semiregular variable star and its brightness varies from magnitude +4.23 to +4.54 with a period of 165 days. With a colour index of +2.07, Ruby Star has been identified as the second reddest in the night sky to shine consistently at a naked eye brightness well over the 5th magnitude[1]. Down to a limiting magnitude of +5, it is superseded in redness only by the Garnet Star (Mu Cephei). The star lies 4.6 degrees off the ecliptic. This makes it a candidate for occultations by the Moon and (extremely rarely) by one of the bright planets. The star's angular diameter has been measured in three colors by lunar occultation.[2] The Saros number of the solar eclipse series which began on 850 15 May at 12:05:59 UT and will end on 2112 24 June at 07:05:54 UT. Resolved Question: as long as i dont cross state lines then im not required to have a dot number ?

heres the definition from the us dot site....i know interstate means crossing lines...does this mean im not subject to it like everyone is telling me?? ....... Companies that operate commercial vehicles transporting passengers or hauling cargo in interstate commerce must be registered with the FMCSA and must have a USDOT Number. Also, commercial intrastate hazardous materials carriers who haul quantities requiring a safety allow must register for a USDOT Number. The USDOT Number serves as a unique identifier when collecting and monitoring a company’s safety information acquired during audits, compliance reviews, accident investigations, and inspections. it also says kansas is a required state if i meet the guidelines...i only haul my personal tools in a 1 ton service truck and im not sure what they consider cargo...
